If you have sufferred, as I have, to the frozen camera "saving" screen due to using the shutter halfway button setting for a function like 10x zoom where you press too much? Then this will be the simple answer for you!
By default pressing the shutter too far will result in the camera attempting to take a photo in video mode but the only way out when this happens is to pull the battery and basically hard restart.
To Set This To Never Be a Worry
- Go to the Canon Menu
- In the 5th tab
- Set Video snapshot to: DISABLE

Basically when enabled this will attempt to make a 4 second video which it appears with ML firmware, at least for me, never completes saving. Once you set this then from now on, and only when in Video mode, the full Shutter Button won't try to make a video. The cool part being that it will work as usual in Photo Mode. I haven't thoroughly tested if it affects performance. Let me know.
