For nearly anyone focused on hand carry and shoot, where they skip a tripod. You will almost certainly encounter "jitters," or the micro movements you can't stabilize via hand shots except incredibly skilled professionals.

This means the video you shoot when you try to create a video will be unstable and this increases the challenge of keeping a watchers focus, leading to easier chance of bouncing out of your video.

The good news is there is a simple way to stabilize most video without leaning into Fusion and Planar Trackers and more complex versions to stabilize. Today lets cover the most straight forward way to stabilize a majority of your hand held shots.

How To Simply Stabilize Nearly Any Shot

There are two methods of optimization here to stabilize, one with a steady shot and the other focused on if their is movement like cars, boats, or other parts you don't want stabilized but are wanting the backdrop or other area stabilized.

Fairly Isolated Handheld Shot Stabilization

  1. Open your clip in Davinci Resolve
  2. Move to Color Page
  3. Open the Tracker Panel
  4. Change to Stabilizer Menu
  5. Increase Strength Value to 1
  6. Click "Stabilize" Button

Stabilize Background With Isolated Moving Element

  1. Open your clip in Davinci Resolve
  2. Move to Color Page
  3. Open the Tracker Panel
  4. Change to Stabilizer Menu
  5. Click on 3 Dots in menu
  6. Select "Classic Stabilizer"
  7. Increase Smooth Value to 99
  8. Check box for "Interactive Mode"
  9. Click Insert Button
  10. Draw around your moving object then click delete button once done
  11. Hit Track forward button
  12. Click "Stabilize" Button
